Bord Gáis Energy is one of Ireland’s largest gas and electricity suppliers. Bord Gáis Energy is the retail arm of Bord Gáis, a commercial semi-state company supplying gas and electricity to over 800,000 homes and businesses across the country. In addition to supplying gas and electricity, Bord Gáis Energy offers boilers servicing and repair services to customers.

Electric Ireland is one of Ireland’s largest gas and electricity suppliers, supplying electricity to around 1.8 million customers in Ireland. Electric Ireland is a division of ESB. The company was launched in April 2011 when they entered into the residential gas market.

Energia is the newest gas and electricity supplier in Ireland. Energia’s new residential price plans launched on January 30th 2014. Energia has been providing electricity and gas to Irish businesses since 1999. Over a quarter of all Irish businesses have chosen Energia as their energy supplier, including more than a third of all Irish SMEs.

Flogas Natural gas is the fourth largest residential gas supplier in Ireland. The Flogas company commenced as Flogas Limited, which was incorporated in September 1977 and commenced business in August 1978. In March 1995 the Flogas company became a wholly owned subsidiary of DCC plc.

Pinergy is Ireland’s newest Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) electricity supplier and brings the user experience enjoyed by millions of PAYG mobile phone users to the electricity market. Pinergy are a wholly owned Irish company. Their budget controllers with smart metering technology put you in control as to how you use and when you pay for your electricity.

PrePay Power offer a Pay-As-You-Go electricity service to Irish electricity customers. PrePay Power customers receive no bills. Customers top up like a mobile phone. There are hundreds of handy places to top-up nearby all around the country alternatively customers can use a credit or debit card to top-up from home over the phone - 7 days a week. PrePay Power is fully bonded, regulated and licensed just like the other big suppliers.

SSE Airtricity supplies gas and electricity throughout Ireland. SSE Airtricity is Ireland’s largest independent energy provider and is powered by SSE with renewable energy from the largest wind generation portfolio on the island of Ireland. SSE Airtricity is a wholly-owned division of SSE plc, the broadest-based energy utility in the UK.

No. You’ll still be receiving your energy through the same pipes and cables so there won’t be any an interruption to your electricity or gas supply, or any need to dig up the road. Only the company that provides your, gas bills, electricity bills, or if you’re comparing both gas and electricity your energy bills will change.

How do I compare gas and compare electricity prices?

What happens once I’ve switched energy?

uSwitch is a free service that handles the switching process for you. Once you’ve completed your energy switch, your new energy supplier will contact your old supplier and agree a switching date. You will then receive a welcome pack and letter from your new gas & electricity supplier. This will outline what you’ve agreed to, and tell you what happens next. There won’t be any interruption in your gas and electricity supply.
